Twelve-Month Follow-up of a Randomized Clinical Trial of a Brief Group Psychological Intervention for Common Mental Disorders in Syrian Refugees in Jordan

PM+ is an evidence-based, scalable psychological intervention that has been proven effective in treating mild to moderate depression, anxiety and stress in multiple RCTs worldwide, typically in three-month and six-month follow-ups. Of note, however, Group PM+ was only significantly demonstrated to be effective against depression for Syrian refugees in Jordan. The very important finding from this RCT is that unfortunately, the benefits of the intervention are not sustained over longer periods of time. This has important implications for how MHPSS programs support those with common mental health conditions
in the long run.
