Panel Discussions

There’s No Healthcare Without Medicine

Following a crisis, International Medical Corps works to restore health services to impacted communities. We rehabilitate health facilities so they can better handle surging patient demand. We bring in medical professionals and provide cutting-edge training to fill in personnel gaps. This work enables patients to access a safe facility and receive the proper diagnoses—but if there is no medicine to treat the patient, then the impact of our work is greatly diminished.

This panel will explore the challenges in delivering medical commodities in humanitarian settings. How can we quickly and effectively ensure that lifesaving medicine gets in the hands of those who need it? How can we ensure that the value of these commodities is maintained throughout the supply chain?

The New Normal: How Do We Respond to a Higher Volume of Natural Disasters?

The frequency and severity of natural disasters is increasing at an alarming rate. From 2000 to 2019, there were 7,348 major natural disasters globally. In contrast, the period from 1980 to 1999 saw only 4,212 disasters—a 74% increase in just two decades. If we continue to respond to disasters today with methods we used 40 or even 20 years ago, communities around the world will suffer.

This panel will explore how we can leverage partnerships to effectively mobilize and maximize resources, to provide innovative and strategic responses so that no communities are left behind.

It Takes a Village: How to Leverage Corporate America’s Mighty Volunteer Power

The private sector knows that engaging employees helps increase productivity and retention, and enhance the corporate image. At the same time, people are increasingly seeking careers that give them greater purpose, at companies with a mission they believe in. How can the private sector capitalize on this growing interest and maximize this powerful force?

This panel will explore how nonprofits can help meaningfully engage corporate employees, to maximize the benefits both to corporate partners and to communities in need.
