International Medical Corps Facilitates Shared Space for Relief Organizations in Fukushima

As part of our continued efforts to assist survivors of the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami, International Medical Corps partnered with the Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC) to create a collaboration space in Fukushima Prefecture which was greatly affected by the disaster. In Fukushima, where non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have had difficulty establishing operations due to mountainous terrain and continued concerns regarding radiation exposure, access to this collaborative space will ensure that local and international NGOs are able to connect and continue recovery efforts for the local community. This space will be used as an office and gathering place where international NGOs and local Japanese organizations can hold events and meetings and coordinate activities.
