International Medical Corps Welcomes Marlee Matlin as Global Ambassador

Global humanitarian organization International Medical Corps is proud to announce that Academy Award-winning actress and dedicated activist Marlee Matlin has joined as a new Global Ambassador. The announcement coincides with the first week of Disability Awareness Month, underscoring the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and support for people, including those with disabilities, in humanitarian contexts.

Renowned for her groundbreaking work in film and television, Matlin has long advocated for the rights and needs of people with disabilities. As a Global Ambassador, Matlin will work with International Medical Corps to highlight the unique challenges faced by people with disabilities in emergency situations.

“People with disabilities are often the most overlooked and vulnerable during crises,” said Matlin. “I am honored to partner with International Medical Corps to help raise awareness of its mission to deliver emergency medical services and supplies to those affected by conflict, disaster and disease in some 30 countries. I also fully support its commitment to training people and strengthening healthcare systems, enabling communities to become more resilient when disaster strikes.”

With four decades of experience as a first responder in some of the world’s most challenging environments, International Medical Corps is committed to ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their abilities, have access to the care and support they need.

“We are thrilled to welcome Marlee Matlin to International Medical Corps as a Global Ambassador,” said Nancy A. Aossey, President and CEO of International Medical Corps. “Her passion and dedication to advocacy align perfectly with our mission of providing support and training for all people affected by crises. We’re happy to welcome her to our team.”

Matlin joins an esteemed roster of Global Ambassadors who support International Medical Corps and those it serves around the world, including Kevin Curry, Lily Donaldson, Judy Greer, Maz Jobrani, Sanaa Lathan, Sienna Miller, Ashley Park and Inanna Sarkis.
